Connecting Zoho Mail

Enable IMAP, generate an app password if needed, and connect your Zoho mailbox.

Zoho Mail connects to PitchBrand over IMAP. There are two things to set up on Zoho's side before connecting: enabling IMAP access (it's off by default on most accounts) and, if you have two-factor authentication on, generating an application-specific password.

Important: Zoho's servers are different for free personal accounts (@zohomail.com) and paid organization accounts on a custom domain. Make sure you pick the right ones below.

Step 1: Enable IMAP access in Zoho

  1. Sign into mail.zoho.com in a browser.
  2. Open Settings (the gear icon) > Mail Accounts.
  3. Select your primary email address.
  4. Check the IMAP Access box and save.

Step 2: Generate an app password (if 2FA is on)

If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your Zoho account, your regular password will not work over IMAP. You need an application-specific password.

  1. Open accounts.zoho.com and go to Security > App Passwords.
  2. Click Generate New Password.
  3. Give it a label like PitchBrand and click Generate.
  4. Copy the password shown — it's only displayed once.

If you don't use 2FA, you can skip this step and use your regular Zoho password in the next step. We strongly recommend turning on 2FA and using an app password anyway.

Step 3: Connect in PitchBrand

  1. In PitchBrand, open Settings > Mailbox and choose Other Email (IMAP).
  2. On the secure form, enter your email and password, then the server settings for your account type:

Free personal account (@zohomail.com)

  • IMAP serverimap.zoho.com
  • IMAP port993 · SSL/TLS
  • SMTP serversmtp.zoho.com
  • SMTP port465 · SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS)

Paid organization account (custom domain)

  • IMAP serverimappro.zoho.com
  • IMAP port993 · SSL/TLS
  • SMTP serversmtppro.zoho.com
  • SMTP port465 · SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS)

If your Zoho data center is outside the US

Zoho hosts accounts in regional data centers. If you signed up on zoho.eu, zoho.in, zoho.com.au, or zoho.jp, the server hostnames change — replace .com with your region (for example, imappro.zoho.eu). The port and encryption stay the same. To check which data center you're on, look at the URL of your Zoho webmail after signing in.

If the connection fails

  • "Invalid credentials" — if 2FA is on, you must use an app password, not your regular Zoho password. Generate a new one if needed.
  • "IMAP access disabled" — go back to Step 1 and make sure IMAP Access is checked under Settings > Mail Accounts.
  • "Wrong server" — double-check whether you're on a free account (use imap.zoho.com) or a paid org account on a custom domain (use imappro.zoho.com). They're not interchangeable.
  • EU/IN/AU account fails on .com servers — replace .com with your region in the hostnames.
